CRYPTID

A shimmering black cocoon is nestled amidst the raspy bulges on the trunk of a black locust tree. The object resembles an oversized pupating insect. As a mode of protection whilst its metamorphosis it appears to be mimicking the bark of the tree and simoultaneously protect itself from predators with numerous thorns spiking out from its shell.
